The agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Uri Nachmias, an individual sole proprietor (referred to here as "we", "us", or "Pica MD Viewer"), and govern your use of the Pica MD Viewer macOS app and the supporting page at picaapps.com (together, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Geographic scope
The Service is available only in App Store regions where we have published it. See the app's App Store listing for the current list of supported countries. We do not offer the Service in the European Economic Area. If you are accessing the Service from a region where we do not distribute it, you are not authorised to use it.
For users in the United Kingdom and Switzerland, these Terms apply alongside any local consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
What the app does
Pica MD Viewer is a view-only Markdown reader for macOS. It opens Markdown files you choose and renders them on screen, including a Quick Look preview in Finder. It supports CommonMark and GitHub-Flavored Markdown, a folder sidebar, recent files, adjustable content width, and light/dark/system appearance. It does not edit files.
The app is offered free of charge with no paid tier, no in-app purchases, and no subscriptions.
Your content
The files you open remain entirely yours. The Service reads them only to display them and never modifies, uploads, or transmits their contents. We claim no rights over your files and have no access to them.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except to the limited extent expressly permitted by law.
- Probe, scan, or test the Service for vulnerabilities, or breach any security measure, unless we have authorised you in writing.
- Use the Service in any way that would cause us to violate the App Store Review Guidelines or our agreement with Apple.
We may remove the app from the Mac App Store at any time, with or without notice, for any reason.
Pricing and billing
Pica MD Viewer is free. There are no payments to process and no refunds to issue.
Third-party services
The Service interoperates with the following third parties, each governed by its own terms:
- Apple Inc. (Mac App Store distribution). Subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Privacy Policy.
- Google Forms, used only if you submit the optional in-app "Report a bug" feedback form. Subject to Google's terms and privacy policy.
- Pica Apps website (
picaapps.com). Subject to the Pica Apps website's terms.
You are responsible for reviewing each third party's terms before relying on the Service.
Warranty & liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT EVERY MARKDOWN FILE WILL RENDER EXACTLY AS YOU EXPECT.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE, IN AGGREGATE, IS LIMITED TO FIVE U.S. DOLLARS.
Apple-specific terms (App Store EULA)
You acknowledge and agree, in addition to the standard Apple Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the "Apple EULA"), that:
- These Terms are an agreement between you and us, not between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Service.
- In the event the Service fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you — which for Pica MD Viewer is zero.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims you or any third party have relating to the Service.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app. We may withdraw the Service from the Mac App Store at any time, with or without notice.
Contact & governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel.
